Thirteen years ago, I became a man in the eyes of the Jewish people. This January, we’re going to party like it’s 1998.
In celebration of my 26th birthday, I'm throwing a party to recreate a late-90s bar mitzvah. We'll bring together elements of the Jewish rite of passage into adulthood with the mid-20s mindset of avoiding it. This is your chance to enter a nostalgic world - only now, with the ability to drink and interact with the opposite sex. Expect Coke and Pepsi, glow necklaces, and a playlist loaded with Mambo No. 5 and a Motown megamix.
Jordan, that sounds like a blast, but what's with the t-shirts?
A few weeks ago, when I brought up the idea of a double bar mitzvah to my friends, they immediately began brainstorming ways to make it amazing: dancers, DJs, giveaways. They don't normally do that for my birthday; I was clearly onto something.
This is not a party for me - it's a party for you. I'm kick-starting the event with an angel investment to make it happen. The more people who buy into the event, the more ideas from our brainstorms can come true.
