My name is David Barrett, I'm a guitar player and in January of 2010, guitarist Alex Lifeson of Rush offered to produce the David Barrett Trio. We recorded 3 progressive rock instrumentals at his studio, Lerxst Sound, using Rush engineer Richard Chycki, and the results were spectacular! The intent was to get us started, so we could garner interest and move forward. We have released the 3 singles on iTunes, and are off to a great start. We managed to record the music without spending any money, due to Alex pulling favors. We could never have afforded this otherwise. For a complete record, we need to record an additional 7 songs. They are rehearsed and ready to go. Alex's personal studio is closing and we'd need 80% of the money to pay for studio time and engineering costs, and 20% for manufacturing costs. If we exceed our goal that money would be spent on publicity, including an animated video for the tune Hollowbody. This band is truly a labour of love and we are dedicated to the music for all the right reasons. Someone out there has to play instrumental progressive rock as a power trio!
