Hashem A. 6-tet w/Ron Miles new CD, "Pieces"!

The Hashem Assadullahi Sextet is the flagship of my musical projects.  Based primarily in Oregon, I’m joined by composer and guitarist Justin Morell, pianist James Miley, bassist Tyler Abbott, drummer Ryan Biesack and the world renowned trumpeter Ron Miles (most well-known for his work with Bill Frisell, Madeleine Peyroux, Duke Ellington Orchestra and many others).

This group’s repertoire, penned by myself, Justin and James, draws on a wide array of styles including jazz, classical, pop,  and movie soundtracks.  The sextet is especially adept at collective improvisation, performing with an emphasis on melody and moods, from introspective to humorous.

In February we recorded a lot of great music spanning many musical interests, from contagious hooks of 80's girl pop to Americana, elegant beauty to raw aggression, and everything in between. When we began recording, we couldn't have imagined how magical the result would be.  All of us feel it's something special and are very proud to be a part of it.

The record is ready to go--we just need to release it into the wild! Origin Records has invited us to release the CD under their label. Origin is a fantastic label, based in Seattle, which has released records of Joshua Redman, Cuong Vu, Peter Epstein and many other fantastic artists.  It's a great honor to be associated with Origin, but they need us to cover some of the production costs.  With your help we will be able to print 1000 copies of the CD and send it to radio stations, reviewers, and stores all over the world.  With your support and the exposure this release will grant us, the group will continue to grow and create music of the highest caliber!
