What’s in Your Marketing Stack

If you’ve clicked on this article, you must have an idea of what a marketing stack is. If you don’t, that’s also not an issue because we will tell you the A to Z of the components included in the marketing stack. A marketing stack, also called a marketing technology stack, is a collection of technologies used by marketers to perform, analyze and improve their services.

But the question remains, what’s in your marketing stack? Let’s dive into this topic and find out!

Why is a Content Management Systems (CMS) Important?

A Content Management System is important and helps businesses with marketing. CocoSign is a renowned secure E-Sign service provider that helps businesses automate their paperwork workflow through a programmable logic signing system. Stephen Curry, CEO at CocoSign would like to share some insight on it:

“Content Management System(CMS)Whether it’s a stretch white paper or a custom microsite, product price page, or an educational blog post, content is at the heart of modern SaaS marketing. For all CMS, WordPress is flexible, easy to read, and a very friendly search engine. Additionally, it has provided me with many plugins and themes, which makes it the best customizable platform of all. On the other hand, this CMS is very flexible for newcomers and we have opened up using WordPress at a basic level and gained more skills as we grow. Therefore, it is highly recommended for all businesses.”

The Important of Social Media Marketing Tools

We believe the content you post on social media has the power to turn fans into loyal brand advocates. It is so important for small businesses to devote their time to a well-thought-out, research-based, and comprehensive social media strategy in their social media posts to boost the targeted engagement. In a nutshell, set goals, create meaningful content that aligns with your goals, market your content on the right platforms at the right time. It is the only way to compete without having a large budget for marketing in hand.

A tool like HootSuite can give you a live product monitoring function, making it easier for us to interact with our potential customers. It allows users to schedule content in advance for weeks, select the full publishing schedule to reach as many people as possible, and analyze our most effective community shares. We will see who has utilized HootSuite in their business and the insight from that experience.

No modern marketing stack is complete without a comprehensive analytics tool. Software designed to extract cold, solid data on the real-world impact of your marketing strategy, from the awareness raised to productive customers. Businesses are thriving with Google Analytics and most SaaS businesses are using Google Analytics across all of their site pages as it makes statistics and management processes much easier. Google Analytics can even facilitate every business by tracking the converted leads daily.

Email: An Effective Marketing Tool

According to Steve Scott, CTO at Spreadsheet Planet, the most effective marketing tool is emailing. This is what Steve has to say about it:

“One of the most effective marketing tools is email. After all, how many other marketing methods can put your business in front of as many individuals as you have contact information for in such a direct and near-instantaneous manner? Marketing automation tools including Marketo or Eloqua, such as segmented emails and lead management, can help you supercharge your efforts by getting your message in front of the right people at the right time.”

Importance of Keyword Research and Search Engine Marketing

According to Sumit Bansal, Founder, and CEO of TrumpExcel, tools which are in my marketing stack include keyword research and SEM. This is what Sumit would like to share:

“Each day, Google alone processes more than 3.5 billion searches, and entire businesses have been won or lost on the battlefields of search engine optimization. Thankfully, keyword research and SEM tools like Ahrefs shed light on the dark and murky world of search engines, helping you to analyze search trends, optimize content for high-volume keywords, and track, locate, and acquire new backlinks.”

Various Tools Suggested by Entrepreneurs

Here’s a rundown of various tools used by entrepreneurs that help them immensely and make their tasks easy:

Gerrid Smith, Chief Marketing Officer at Joy Organics, prefers Databox in his marketing stack. Gerrid has been quoted on INC.com, Forbes.com, Entrepreneur.com, and CIO.com. His former company, Black Fin, was featured on the 2017 INC 5000 list at #821 and specializes in high-end digital marketing strategies.

“Do you realize how inconvenient it is to try to get a real-time view of everything you’re doing in terms of marketing in one place? Databox came in and solved a problem we weren’t even aware we had: Reporting is fantastic and seamless.”

Databox is a tool that lets you link nearly all of your data sources to a stunning dashboard system and watch your company’s success in one easy-to-read place. You may provide a real-time view of your performance by establishing unique and personalized dashboards.

Databox integrates seamlessly with Google AdWords, Facebook, Salesforce, Shopify, HubSpot, Wistia, Zapier, Instagram, and over 50 other platforms. The best news is that the free platform edition includes practically everything you’ll need to get started with reporting dashboards, so there’s no excuse not to give it a shot.

Michael Robinson, the Security Expert of Cheap SSL Security, prefers MobileMonkey in its marketing stack. This is what he would like to say”

“We’ve been experimenting with a lot of chatbot technologies in 2021 due to the development in automation and the growing need for more digital marketing. When it comes to value, convenience of use, and functionality, this is undoubtedly the best chatbot tool on the market right now. If you’re in charge of a company and have chat services set up on your website, Facebook, SMS, and Instagram, you know how time-consuming it can be to administer all of those platforms.”

MobileMonkey’s OmniChat solution, on the other hand, allows you to manage all of your chat platforms from a single, unified inbox. Consider making a change to your chatbot script, then updating it on your website, then going to your Facebook chat and making the changes there, then to your SMS platform, now multiply that by a year. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Customer Support Tools

According to Harriet Chan, the co-founder, and marketing director at CocoFinder, customer support tools are very important nowadays. This is what Harriet shared:

“We have various customer relationship management (CRM) tools for our day-to-day activities. These tools enable us to communicate effectively with our customers and solve any issues they have. The tools also help us to trace the interactions of our customers with our website. With these tools, we can see the sources of traffic and the pages they visit on the website. As a result, we can design customized marketing campaigns based on the needs of the customers.”

Here are some of the tools they use:

Happyfox enables them to use one ticketing system in handling all inbound requests. It has a clean and easy-to-use interface that we enjoy using. Additionally, they can set up automated responses. The platform also allows our representatives to communicate with several people within the same organization about a specific issue. The good thing about HappyFox is the overall layout that makes it easy to access and view valuable data.

Freshdesk allows them to respond to customers quickly, helping to resolve issues urgently. The shared inbox allows for team collaboration. Additionally, the platform allows them to use chatbots and formulate automated responses, saving customers’ time. With Freshdesk, they offer customer support in different forms, including phone support, email, chat, website, and social media support. Its pricing is also relatively affordable.

They used Zendesk before switching to Freshdesk, and the experience was pretty excellent. The platform allowed us to offer support by email, social media, mobile, and other forms. In addition, it allowed them to access customer analytics and formulate strategies for improving customer support. The good thing is that customers could make phone calls and get their issues resolved instantly.

How Marketing and SEO Tools Helped Jae Jun

According to Jae Jun, SaaS and eCom founder of GORILLA ROI, marketing and SEO tools helped his business a lot. This is what Jae shared:

“Our main marketing is content and inbound. We run a SaaS with the majority of our leads coming in through our content and inbound efforts. Our first one is Ahrefs. In order to know what people are searching for and what type of content to write. We write content and guides based on search and user intent which means we must have a very clear understanding of the keyword usage, why someone would be searching for a specific keyword, how it relates to our business and whether that visitor is a good fit customer profile for our business at any stage of the visitor’s journey.

The second is Surfer SEO which has changed how our writers and editors collaborate and write content. The tool combines writing and SEO. This allows our editors to create a skeleton and provide a content brief 5x faster than what we used to do. Within Surfer SEO, we can gather the necessary titles, topics, questions, and the writers also know what keywords and phrases to target in order to maximize the SEO to create content that ranks.

Lastly is Adobe Spark which we use for in-content images, featured images, and thumbnails. Using quick templates and then using Adobe’s vast library of fonts, colors, backgrounds let us publish images and content efficiently.”

These 3 tools have helped him go from a max of 2 articles a week to a minimum of 5 articles a week and they have increased their content marketing and traffic continues to climb.

SEO and Email Tools

According to Nate Tsang, Founder & CEO at WallStreetZen, SEO and Email tools helped my business a lot. This is what Nate shared:

“To be blunt, this tool costs less than its competitors. What we liked was the easy interface that fits with our get up and gets it done mentality. We learned a lot about ranking for SEO and how to make our efforts more impactful even within the free trial. What kept us on was the way Ubersuggest improves with your efforts, giving more keywords and advice as you use it.”

Email marketing gets them the best return and keeps them in touch with warm leads. Scheduling, content creation, analytics—this platform does it all in one, giving them the right data to make decisions. Additionally, Nate also said that their customer support is excellent and their prices are in line with the other services we considered.

Nate does more journalistic outreach now that they had success being printed elsewhere. It’s great for getting a read on the trending topics of (everchanging in FinTech) and what publications are covering them. Contacting and following up with journalists is much easier now as well. If you’re serious about PR then this tool is greatly helpful.

Tools from Inna’s Marketing Stack

Inna Shevchenko, CMO at iGMS, a SaaS company that offers short-term rental management software for professional hosts with 14 years of active experience in marketing and has been featured on YourStory, CMSWire. This is what Inna have in its marketing stack:

“At iGMS, we use a variety of both free and paid marketing tools that serve to collect data, optimize our processes, and adjust our marketing strategy. Tools we use include Ahrefs, Buzzstream, LeadPages, LeadDyno, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Zoom, and Slack. Among them, my favorites are HubSpot, SurferSEO, and Google Optimize.”

Inna said that HubSpot is indispensable for her as a CRM and email marketing software. They analyze all the data about their audience, prospective clients, deals, and email communications through HubSpot’s analytics tools. By doing so, they are able to make any necessary adjustments to their email content based on measurements like the bounce, open, delivery rates, etc.

Hubspot also offers handy reports, workflows, and automation tools allowing Inna and her team to set plenty of manual tasks and processes on autopilot. For instance, based on the lead’s online behavior the deal stage they are in is detected automatically. Once the lead is categorized, Hubspot starts sending this prospect a tailored series of automated emails.

SurferSEO is an extremely helpful tool for content optimization. It makes it fast and easy to create content outlines, select the right keywords, and get insights into the ideal word count, readability, etc. This tool also gives them easy-to-implement fixes that boost the rankings of their website pages.

Google Optimize is a fantastic free, and, in my opinion, underestimated tool for testing ways to improve our website and gain more conversions. With Google Optimize we can easily create A/B experiments without any help from developers or designers. As it is directly linked to Google Analytics we can analyze the conversion rate and make data-backed decisions. This way we test different messages, images, calls to action and so much more.

Now that we have read about the importance of the components included in a marketing stack, we should be able to make sure that we have all the necessary essentials that are needed to make our marketing strategy power-packed. A marketer isn’t born but made.

We hope that this article will help you become the marketer you aspire to be and create attention-grabbing marketing strategies in the future!
