I Want to Push Your Buttons! :)

Pre-Order our Services to Help Launch our Button Making Empire by December 1st! :)

In Brief:

I want to pay independent artists to perform on my webcast. The show isn't ready for approaching sponsors yet, so we need to be entrepreneurs! We make art pieces during each webcast and I want to be able to make buttons out of them, sell them on my website, and give the profits to the artists :) I have exhausted my funds on new cameras/computers etc. so I need help raising the funds for the button making machine. This is a business though! So I'm not asking for your charity, I'm asking for the opportunity to sell you buttons (your design or ours) on pre-order through RocketHub.

If we get enough pre-orders to reach our goal by December 1st, RocketHub will give us the funds and we start making and shipping buttons! If we don't reach our goal, you get your money back!

If we raise more money than we need, we'll put the extra funds towards other gear and programs that will improve the webcast (see below for more detail)

If You Do Not Have a Credit Card: I have set up a profile for people who would rather pay by paypal, cash or e-transfer. Just contact me directly and I'll post the funds to my rocket ship on your behalf :)

Don't buttons make great gifts for the holidays? I think so ;)

In Detail:

2 years ago (this month) I followed my gut and left my life in academia to pursue my real passion: music... from scratch... as an independent artist... as a career.

I had no idea what I was getting into or where to start, but I learned quickly that the music industry is changing. The way people experience and become introduced to music is changing. The power is in the hands of the listeners, not the labels now. And that is really exciting for all of us! (well, maybe not for the record companies)

I want independent artists to get paid! Not by social assistance, or playing in cover bands, or getting by with meaningless part time jobs. We don't have to be "starving" to be artists, but we do have to make it happen ourselves, like any other entrepreneur.

So 6 months ago I started running my very own live music webcast. The idea was to create an online avenue for independent artists (myself included) to expand their fanbases and to perform for their fans/friends/family who are far away and can't attend shows locally. It has turned into something much more exciting and inspiring than I could have ever imagined.

We now have a theme song (created by one of our viewers & guests), cyber jams, chatroom songwriting sessions, weekly fine art collaborations with an online art gallery to show them off, viewers from all over the world, brand new top-of-the-line gear with a co-producer/film maker who knows how to use it (he starts Nov 2) and the ability to push pre-recorded segments into the live stream. We've come a long way (and my hosting skills are getting better too!) :)

I want to start paying the artists, but we're not quite ready to be approaching sponsors yet (still have a few more bugs to work out) and I am absolutely not going to start asking our viewers to pay to watch our show. So we need to start selling merchandise!

This is where you come in and the business really makes itself legitimate! :)

The Webcast Needs a Button Maker!!!

And we need it by December 1st, 2010 so that we can make enough buttons to sell during our first ever Webcast Art Show & Auction.

  1. All of the original fine art pieces we have been making on the webcast are going to be auctioned off during the holiday season in support of our local food bank.
  2. The profits from the buttons will go to the artists.

As a 'starving artist' who benefitted from the food bank for many months this year, this is my way of giving back and moving forward (which is what they really want for you, not to feed you). Once we have the machine we will not only be able to use it for the webcast, but we'll be able to offer button making services and workshops to help independent artists promote their own projects without breaking the bank.

Please join us in supporting "Indepedent Artist" as a legitimate career possibility by pre-ordering our products. This is a business, not a charity. If we don't reach our goal by December 1st, RocketHub guarantees you your money back. If we do reach it, they give us your money and we start button making mahem! If our project generates more funds than our goal is set for, we will invest the extra money in gear and services that will make the show even more interactive and the business more diverse, such as: a laptop for portable webcasts, a high quality printer for making prints of the art pieces, the Ustream Producer Pro software, MasterWriter software that has copyright features so we can feel free to perform and create new songs on the show without having to worry about someone 'stealing' our babies and, finally, time with an entertainment lawyer to make sure we're covering our butts!

Thank you for your support!

Your crazy friend chasing the dream,

Meghan Morrison
