the video editor is painful to use. Uploads take ages, remove background takes ages, just for short 2 minute clipos, then try to play and it locks up after 15 seconds. Glitches everywhere in the editor. They should pay me to use this. Our team has given this a lot of thought. The truth is, we are actively encouraging our users to explore beyond the confines of templates. We have found that relying too heavily on templates can be restrictive – it requires high-quality images from users and it limits the editing capabilities. We’ve received feedback about these limitations, and unfortunately, it’s not something we can address in the short term.
We can’t afford to invest more in templated as its editing capabilities are limited, meaning it can’t accommodate the diverse use cases of our users.
We’ve set stricter template limitations in Boolvideo to encourage more use of the AI video generation feature. This approach also allows us to gather more user feedback and continuously improve this feature to cater to a wider range of user scenarios and unlock more possibilities.

1. We have around 20 people in total for Boolvideo. Our development team is based in Shenzhen, China, our core team was from Bytedance while others were recruited with experience in Saas or e-commerce. In terms of marketing, we target the global market with an emphasis on the US, and we are mainly relying on organic growth focusing on small businesses. I am leading our overseas growth myself, I have a background mainly in data and products both in the US (Tesla, Walmart) and China (Bytedance, Vanke). I am sorry about the confusion caused by Boolvideo Lite (which we launched on AppSumo) – we are documenting a specific feature list comparison between these two products: https://lerrke66ok.feishu.cn/wiki/GEMowtuxEifXo4kyI9kcP1IjnQc?from=from_copylink. This is to clarify that these are two independent products, even though we adopted similar UX designs to save design costs, their core features and user paths are different if you tried out both. The reason that we launched 2 products was actually quite common for startups, we had a major technical breakthrough for AI video generation and corresponding video editing after we launched the initial model (the template-based model of Lite) but also found out that evolving AI videos and template-based “accurate” videos are both in need for different scenarios and populations. So we decided to build separate products, where Lite keeps being light and neat for one-click template videos suitable for e-commerce, while Boolvideo being more AI-orientated with more relevant features. So in terms of value, it depends on users’ needs and scenarios; in terms of our cost, Boolvideo is much more costly than Lite in the long run.
In terms of updates and changelog, we actually have been trying to be promising even for Lite when we were not mature since it was our first video product. The major challenge for Lite was that our initial technical solution was not flexible enough to support a lot of requests (flexibility in editing etc.), which was exactly why we invested a lot into a major technical update and breakthrough (current Boolvideo’s AI video solution). Also since we made this change and learned from the past, Boolvideo’s updates and changelog will be much more exact and promising. We believe that you can see this from the speed at which we added new AI features for the current version. We will post changelogs weekly in our Discord community and keep better track of it.
3. We have been spending tight – that is why we keep spending on development instead of customer service vendors, even when we were facing such confusion about Lite:) We are financially healthy with enough left over from funding and decent income from both Saas and BtoB products.
4. Our Saas products currently have around 30k users (all registered including free users) and 10k MRR
5. We reply to almost every inquiry within 48 hours, directly from our core team, and all bugs go directly to the dev. team within 1 day for evaluation – I am sorry if there is something that we are technically not able to solve in time, but this support routine is the best we can do so far.
6. Boolvideo is our major product since our focus is always on AI and videos. We will launch new products considering propositions and innovations, but Boolvideo is going to be 1st priority for sure.

I really don’t understand why instead of doing this as a feature in your current product, why do you always create a new product and skip LTD users? This is your probably 4 or 5 products that could be easily fitted in your current stack.

Boolvideo Lite – the template-based quick e-commerce video generator 2) Booltool – an AI toolbox for creators, mainly image editing tools 3) Boolvideo – AI video generator and editor. We had LTD for 1 and 2 on AppSumo, and currently running LTD for 3 right now. All products are interacting and each product’s LTD users enjoy future interactions, we were not skipping anything. Most web apps are usually not made for mobile. It would extremely difficult to make a video editor web app truly for mobile without making a native app. However I would not buy with assumption of a mobile app as it’s a SaaS and they’re roadmap has many other priorities.

For now, i need to download/transfer my media files from my phone to my laptop/desktop, then upload on the web app, then create the video, then transfer back to my phone/cloud to be able to share it via whatsapp/other chat platform with my clients/partners/friends.

I was wondering if you could add a ” animate picture” feature like leiapix.com ? notice they make their short animations loopable so they can continue, not just thrown together . Although I might not keep boolvideo because everything is sooo slooow, I upload a few video clips and it takes forever, and if I want to remove a clip background , again another 5 minutes for each 2 minute clip, upload, 5 minutes, remove background , 5 minutes. pathetic. wish I never purchased this.
