Transition Town Forres is all about transitioning from a top-down, oil-driven economy to ways that are more resilient and local. Whether through local food, renewable energy, strong social networks, or recycling/reusing, our volunteers (and we're all volunteers!) enjoy making our corner of the world a better place. AND having fun along the way!
We started in 2008 and now have 2-acre site with a community garden that's used by about 70 people. We've run lots of classes on gardening, composting, vermiculture, etc, work in schools, donate books to the local library, and run a group to help people make & mend clothing. We're also piloting a neighbourhood programme, Transition Streets, to help people learn more about growing their own food, saving energy, etc. and getting to know each other better.
We aim to make the world a better place -- one person, one plant, one kilowatt hour at a time!
