EVAN SHINNERS + J.S. BACH

+ LIVE PERFORMANCE = @bach

What is “@bach”?

In the spring of 2010, I performed two “all Bach recitals” in notable venues in New York City. These venues were: my final performance at The Juilliard School, and a recital at the Caspary Auditorium at Rockefeller University. These two performances had identical programs, however, each concert provides a completely different interpretations of each piece, even though they come from the same “me” only five weeks apart.

“@bach” is a CD containing highlights from both concerts, all unedited, all untouched, and as thrilling as the live performances themselves.

Who am I?

I am a classical pianist. I am known for my unique approaches to the keyboard music of Johann Sebastian Bach. This music allows for a certain type of freedom, from which I am able to express myself. I am an entertainer, and on this recording, segments of Charles Ives, Liszt, Bob Dylan and my own poetry somehow creep up into these “all Bach recitals.” Each interaction between the audience and myself is left on the recording, highlighting the excitement from these live shows- this is not your typical studio recording.

Where do you come in?

With your support, @bach will take off. Meaning simply, before the project is made public I need raise my goal of $5,000. The project will not be released until then- and if I do not reach my goal, you’ll get your contribution back; it’s all or nothing with Bach…

Why should you be a part?

This is a unique glimpse into the world of classical music. "@bach" is the present and future of the classical music concert. Whether you are a fan of classical music or not, these recordings are sure to catch your interest. Bach has a universal appeal: from Rock to Hip-Hop, from movies to ring tones, from Glenn Gould to me, I know there is something in this album which will catch your attention.
