On May 4, 2012, the Campus Gamers student organization at California State University, Bakerfield will be hosting the 2012 Education and Gaming Symposium. Leaders in the video game industry will address CSUB students, faculty and local community members. They will share their ideas about how game design is used to engage players, and how similar engagement techniques can be used to improve education.
Guest speakers (as of 1/26/2012) include James Portnow (game designer and writer for the web series Extra Credits), Leslie Redd (Director of Educational Programming for Valve Entertainment) and Geoffrey Zatkin (President and CEO of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research - EEDAR).
The funds generated by this RocketHub promotion will go toward facilities fees for the venue and fees associated with funding the event. The event is free of charge for those who attend.
In addition, Campus Gamers has another project that is connected to the Symposium, called the Kinect Project. The goal is to purchase or acquire 35 Kinect motion sensors and software development kits, to be donated to the 35 high schools in Kern County (where CSU Bakersfield is located).
Please help us improve the lives of the students of Kern County. Thanks!
