Hey, it's your friend Christian Coleman here. I moved to New York last fall after spending many years honing my chops as a jazz drummer aboard a cruise ship. I traveled the world and had many great experiences but now I'm super excited that I'm making really cool friends and finding great acceptance in the NYC Jazz scene, particularly in my neighborhood of Long Island City. In just a short time I've played dates at great venues like Rockwood Music Hall, Local 269, Fat Baby, LIC Bar, and Domaine and I'm making great friends and allies every step of the way.
I was fortunate enough to record an album called "5th st. Stoop" last summer in Sydney Australia. It was an awesome experience and I'm dying to share it with you! It features Dale Barlow of Art Blakey and the jazz messengers on Tenor, Gavin Ahearn on piano and Matt Gruebner on bass. The album contains seven of my originals as well as one by Gavin and one by Matt. It was recorded at Billy Fields' studio (Paradise Studios) and engineered by Miles Thomas.
The album is fully recorded and I'm really, really proud of it.
Problem is I don't have the funding needed to get it pressed, released and promoted.
So I'm reaching out to you, my friends and colleagues, to help me get this album out there and into your hands.
In exchange for your support, I've put together a cool and fun set of rewards like a jam session at The Gibson Showroom, drum lessons, and even a rare limited edition photograph of jazz legend ELVIN JONES!
