Support the release of our first album!

 

Hello friends, fans, and others who fall into their own category,  

 

Welcome to our Rocket Hub pitch! We are very happy to introduce ourselves as She and the Sun, an indie folk/rock duo living in New York City.  We are siblings and were both raised on the same love for music. Originally hailing from Buffalo, NY, we grew up playing instruments, singing in Sunday choir, and trying to stay warm throughout the winters. 

We learned to appreciate music through our Mother. She encouraged us to sing around the piano and took us to folk festivals around our home state. Church hymns, Irish traditional music, Classic Rock, and MTV were the soundtrack of our youth.

 Andy, the elder sibling, departed for New York City several years before Melissa where he’s forged a career as a session musician playing guitar and singing back up for several notable artists as well as leading his own band.

 Melissa made her way to the city three years ago, studying at SUNY Purchase for Studio Composition, where Andy also attended for music some time before. She currently lives in Harlem and works part time as a waitress, while also writing, playing out and working on songs for She and the Sun.  

It is only very recently that we’ve made a go of joining forces as a serious musical endeavor.   For us it’s been a really special and exciting twist of fate.  We seem to have complimentary strengths; where one begins an idea, the other finishes or compliments. We’ve spent the last year making our debut record at Andy’s apartment in Long Island City, where we created a make shift recording booth and collected a variety of sound makers. 

 We are really happy with what we’ve come up with so far but feel we need to bring in some outsiders to help fulfill the vision and give the music what it deserves.

We are going to hire an additional mixing and mastering engineer. We also need to be sure that the artwork and duplication are done beautifully.  Not to mention promoting the album once it's done. But….

This takes cash.  Let’s just say more that we have.   This is where we need you to get involved to make this project take off. We’ll make it worth your while with super cool incentives, and most importantly a record of music to accompany your life! Not to mention a full band launch party at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC.
