WDRG Working Museum and Charity Initiative

How does the first WW2 and Home Front military interest museum in Glasgow and the west of Scotland sound?

Would you like to help our group open and enable us to display over 1500 items ranging from wartime in Scotland, the home front and civilian services, the military and it's involvment at home and in North Africa?

With your help we can get this project up and running, meet our aims, and more importantly employ and train some long term unemployed people to become the next generation of restorers and custodians of this exciting collection.

Our artefacts and collection is spread over many locations, mainly hidden away from public view, and not being used to educate and inform others all about this important period of the 20th century. Some of it is being stored in not too ideal conditions and is deteriorating as we speak.

What Can We Do?

We need to bring this under one roof and to attract the public to see and interact with our staff and volunteers.  Likewise our supporters and rocketeers will receive different levels of rewards depending on donations.

Is It Only The Museum or Do You Do Other Things?

Our other arm is to provide adventure tours and provide trips for veterans, working alongside other charities, to the battlefields and war graves of North Africa.  Tying up with a film company we will be providing educational and human interest documentaries with the purpose of informing and educating as per our constitution under our Charitable Status. We regularly attend rallies and in support of others to promote and educate community groups and schools.

We would also love to take on a small group of amatuer film makers and develop them into archivists and a Group Media Team; to enable us to produce small budget film and documentaries aimed at the Education Sector.

We have a lot of experience, many contacts, network partners and interested parties but we sadly lack the funding to bring this all together.

So What Can You Do?

This is where you come in, we need you to help us realise our dream and make this one of the most forward thinking and progressive projects, with an ever changing, innovative and creative collection of people, we will succeed and you can become part of it, no matter how small, the WDRG need you and you will receive recognition no matter what is pledged.

We at the WDRG would also like to thank Ron Fitzpatrick and all at www.G503.com   for their support.
