Biography
Award-winning British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Berger studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York and graduated in 2006.
Alex co-wrote with successful American singer-songwriter Amber Rubarth in London during the summer of 2008 and was invited to record with her later that year in New York. It was during these sessions that Alex came to the attention of producer Alex Wong (The Animators, The Paper Raincoat, Vienna Teng, Ari Hest). This began a journey that culminated with his first studio album, ‘Snow Globe’, recorded in New York, released 2010.
Since then, ‘Snow Globe’ has drawn acclaim from every conceivable angle. Already a Music Week ‘Key Release’ and an iTunes favourite on both sides of the Atlantic, it became an award-winning album when the title track was nominated and then won ‘Best Story Song’ at the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards. The award was judged by one of his musical heroes, Tom Waits (as well as Aimee Mann, Seal, Ozzy Osborne and Anthony DeCurtis from Rolling Stone, among others).
Alex has capitalised on this success by taking to the road and fully engaging with his audiences. Since the album’s release, Alex has played countless shows across the UK, Europe and New York with the likes of highly-acclaimed talent including Amber Rubarth, Adam Levy, Vienna Teng, Alex Wong, Jenny Owen Youngs, Caleb Hawley and Chrissi Poland – many of whom he has written with for his next album.
