Opening a reptile museum has been a lifelong dream of mine. I want to share my passion and love for these animals with my community and everyone who is interested.
The museum will be a fantastic learning experience for all ages;
we hope to be a destination for our local school field trips, Boy and Girl Scouts, and for the rest of the community to learn about their local
herptofauna along with exotics.
We plan on being home to over 120 different species of venomous
snakes, along with an array of other reptile and amphibian species. The NWHM is
being created to provide an exciting and educational experience to the
community about wildlife conservation and care, to inspire people to learn, and
to develop a greater understanding of the behavior and care of the animals we
keep.
I plan on using the money I raise here to obtain more animals for
the museum, startup capital, caging and exhibit design, dry goods, and also put
it towards getting the location I have in mind.
If I get additional funds over my %100 mark, I plan on putting it
all into the museum to assist with all aspects that may require more funding.
Some of the Exhibits:
Ever wonder what it is like to walk with monsters?
In our Walking with Monsters exhibit, you will get the opportunity
to walk next to Gila Monsters, and Beaded lizards with nothing more than
acrylic separating you and them
The Rattlesnake Den
The Rattlesnake Den exhibit will bring you face to face with a den of
rattlesnakes. This will be a great opportunity to view interactions between
multiple snakes in a den site, and get an insides view on what goes on with in
the den!
The Field Herpetology Exhibit
This exhibit will allow visitors of all ages to experience finding reptiles
and amphibians in a natural setting. You will be able to find different species
of snakes, toads, frogs, lizards, turtles, and tortoises. Mentors will be
available to offer pointers on what to look for, and proper etiquette so as not
to hurt yourself or the animal you are looking for. Each person who chooses to
enter this exhibit will be given a checklist of species that are in the
exhibit.
The musuem will also be providing venom for research, and antivenin production. Venom is showing the potential for the next wonder drug. With diabetes medicine derived from Gila Monsters, proteins in Copperhead venom showing anti-cancer properties, and a protein within Rattlesnake venom that is being tested currently on tumors, which has so far begun to cause tumors to self destruct. The possibilities are endless.
We want to bring light to these amazing creatures which, for centuries have always been cast as evil, dark, and menacing. I want to share my love and passion for these animals with everyone, and make the museum my hub for doing so.
1. RocketHub is not an investment or charity. It is an exchange:
funds from fans for rewards from me.
2. It's an All & More funding mechanism: if I don't reach my
financial goal I get to keep what I raise. But if I do reach my goal, I get access to exciting opportunities
