Hello friends and supporters, My name is J-EyE and I am a Recording Artist/Song-Writer from Brooklyn, NY and I recently started out on a mission. That mission is to make a difference in this world, starting with my community. The You Deserve The Love Project is something I hold dear to my heart because of its personal significance. The purpose is to build awareness for the importance of early childhood development in urban communities and assist homeless families and less fortunate single mothers. I have five sisters and I've witnessed them all struggle as single moms trying to maintain a household and raise children. This past year I've lost both my parents due to failing health. That tragedy crushed me of course but I learned two powerful lessons. Firstly, never take life for granted and secondly always extend a helping hand to those less fortunate then yourself. With that being said I was inspired to start The You Deserve The Project and do my part to make positive changes in the inner city.
This year I have visited numerous schools and day care centers in Brooklyn, New York. With children ages 2-10, I worked with a community based NPO called Urban Strategies. They provide housing for homeless families and day care services for those families that cant afford child care. With the children ages 2-3 I've done something called Story-TIme With J-EyE in which I've read some great children's books, played educational games and created fun stories with the kids. With students in 2nd and 3rd grade, I choose a different approach. I visited their class rooms and focused on how important reading is in ones everyday life and the power of believing in yourself. I put the elementary schoolers in groups of four and assisted them in creating songs and poems about achieving; trying to instill in them that anything is possible.
