99 Little Polaroids - Ethiopia

I am travelling to Ethiopia in November.  While there I want to work with nine children at various orphanages, - teaching a mini course on photography basics, and then letting them loose with a camera to create hundreds of polaroid shots.
Years ago, on a trip to Vanuatu I experienced first hand the excitement and joy children feel at getting to take a photo then having it printed right then and there in front of their eyes.  The instantaneousness of the polariod is what makes it so suited to children, particularly those who may not have had much experience with a camera.
The idea is that when all the shots have been taken, we will come together again as a group and vote on the best eleven shots from each child’s collection of a hundred, and will post these final 99 little polariods on a website for all to see and admire.  After recognising how fascinated most children are with a camera I am hoping this project will help develop relationships, cultivate creativity and produce a beautiful end product.  (The 99 photo’s)
I’m doing this in the belief that that art and creativity can enrich us all, because I find the polariod shot so artistically beautiful and because it’s a lot of fun! J  Plus the whole trip will be documented on a website, so you can all come along for the ride.
While I am funding a chunk of this project myself, I need some dosh for the cameras and polariod prints in order for it to run.  If we raise slightly more than this amount, I will use the money for better equiptment and more shots.  If we go significantly over, I’ll see if I can fund a second (or third...or forth!!) trip.  (Am planning on leaving all the cameras and prints for the children to keep as a thank-you gift at the end of the project.)
