My project Bus stop is my final project for my masters class in photography. It is part of a group project called "Contrast LA".
For my project, I decided to focus on the bodies of LA. Instead of contrasting one person against another, I decided to line everyone up in bus stop fashion. I wanted to create a line up of a real look at the various people of LA. I wanted to create something that found beauty in our differences and our likenesses. I tried to capture the emotion of being in a big city, how we live in our own worlds and mostly don't see one another -- except every once in a while to lure, judge or confront.
So far, I have 12 people in the line-up but hope to continue this project.
I am raising money for printing and framing, which at close to life size, brings my project in somewhere between 15 feet to 20 feet long and 4 to 5 feet high. (still making the final decision based on wall space at the gallery)
Printing will run between 900-1500 dollars and backing and coating the print will run close to 3000.00.
I set my goal at 3200.00 to make it an achievable amount -- though if I go over my goal, it will still go toward this project.
The first exhibit will take place Thursday, October 21, 7-10 pm at A&I in Hollywood. You are all invited! I will be there to present my Busstop project and my first book of portraits.
I chose RocketHub because it is a company started by my best friend Coco's friend Jed Cohen. I told both of them it is wildly odd to ask for money but what they explained is that Rocket Hub is not an investment or charity. It is an exchange: funds from fans for rewards from me! It's all or nothing. If i don't reach my financial goal, you get your money back.
The rewards will be fun and hopefully of great use and at great discount to you. So I hope you'll go along on this journey with me!
THANKS in advance!!!
