Join the Penguin Soccer Fan Club!
I've always played board games. I love games that make me think, games that make me laugh, games that let me interact with friends and family. It wasn't a big surprise a few years back when I started designing my own games.
What was surprising was the number of people who enjoyed them. Thanks to the wonders of the web, my games are being played all over the world. Fans have translated my rules into French, German, Dutch and Spanish. One game even won an award. And this February, NestorGames began producing commercial copies of my most popular game, Penguin Soccer.
Penguin Soccer is a game in the tradition of Chess, Checkers and Go. There are no dice, no cards, no random elements - only the skill of the two players. But instead of stern soldiers marching about a battlefield, or abstract stones on a grid, Penguin Soccer is about two families of penguins sliding and spinning and chasing a soccer ball across a frozen field!
All major game publishers - Hasbro, Mattel, Parker Brothers - have large and dedicated budgets to get their new games into the hands of reviewers, buyers and award panels. One-man companies like NestorGames (and their plucky, upstart designers!) have no such budget. What they do have, much like soccer teams, is Fans.
With Fans like you we can bring Penguin Soccer to the attention of (for example) the Mensa Select Award panel. There are a number opportunities for new boardgames to be rated and reviewed, but without you, the people who count may never even get to see our penguins and the hours of family fun they can provide. Without recognition, many great new games disappear into obscurity every year - don't let it happen to Mama, Papa and Baby Penguin.
As well as supporting our tenacious penguins, Fan Club members will also choose from a range of great Rewards, like Penguin Soccer merchandise designed by artist Eloy Aranda Senao, a Game Event at your home, or even a boardgame designed to your specifications!
