BAD KID is a one-person show twenty-something years in the making. It's the story of a Goth boy who dreamed of being anywhere but the middle of Texas in 1991. Preferably somewhere in London wearing fishnet gloves and a cape while standing alone in the rain crying to a Cure song.
The show is about fitting in, standing out, and the beauty of making teenage mistakes. It's also about the difficulty of wearing a leather trenchcoat and 3 pounds of mascara on a 105 degree Summer day in San Antonio.
Bad Kid runs Friday, October 28, Saturday, October 29, Friday, November 4, Saturday, November, 5 Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 at 8:00 p.m. at The Axis Theater, 1 Sheridan Square.
Here is a quote about the BAD KID workshop performance from Kevin Allison of MTV's "The State" and RISK!
"BAD KID is hilarious and heart-wrenching. You'll fall in love with the wonderfully colorful cast of characters that David Crabb brings so fully to life. A true spellbinder, Crabb weaves together all the adventures, discoveries and jolts of his crazy life as a goth kid back in the day when Morrissey was... queen."
I couldn't be more thrilled about opening the show this October at my home away from home, Axis Company, who's been kind enough to produce the show.
That being said, there are still some things to pay for. And this is where your help comes in handy.
Your donation will help pay additional production costs, travel costs for my director, fees for press materials, a stage manager, etc. NO donation is too small. Even 5 bucks will mean the world to Bad Kid. No kidding.
(I was a cheap date as a 16 year-old Goth kid and I guess I still am.)
