A Movement Odyssey; Trainor Dance Fall Show

Hello, and thanks for checking out our project!  We are a small dance company getting ready to produce our first independent show, and are hoping that you will make it happen!  This concert will be our official debut, in which we will present a full evening of work followed by a kicking reception.

On the program are two new pieces; Digital Origami, a skeptical look at life in the technology age, and ORBit, a visual odyssey based around the use of giant meteorological balloons. The work is centered as much on form as it is on feeling, and the two pieces have entirely different aesthetics.  We can't wait for you to sink your teeth into them!

We believe that live art is vitally important, and that is why each of the artists involved in this project are working tirelessly to make it happen.  There is no software program that can accelerate the process when bodies are the instruments and movement is the medium.  Each piece requires about 60 hours of rehearsal before being stage ready, and that does not include the decades of training required for dancers develop professional level artistry.  The life of a dancer is not easy, and most piece together an income through long hours, odd jobs, and great sacrifice.

With this campaign, we are looking to shift the traditional funding model, in which only a couple of powerful donors support the creation of new work.  Here on Rocket Hub, we are asking for modest donations from many people; regular folks who believe that art makes the world a better place.

Your contribution will go towards compensating the artists involved, pure and simple.  Every cent counts, and we appreciate contributions large and small.  If 250 friends each donate $25, we will exceed our goal and each of the dancers will receive a small honorarium.  If we exceed our goal, perhaps even the choreograher will receive a bit of compensation for her work. Currently, that is not in the budget, but it sure would be great!

And you, kind Rocket Fueler, will receive one of our fabulous rewards, heartfelt gratitude, and the warm feeling that comes from being a patron of the arts!   Thank you, thank you, and thank you some more!
