INTRODUCTION
Dear Friends,
What I am about to reveal may come as a grave shock to anyone who knows me to be prim, gluttonous, and an exercise-avoider extraordinaire. The astonishing truth is, I have been bitten by the triathalon bug!
As I may have told you, I have recently joined the board of an incredible charity, VITAL (www.vitalforchildren.org), a nonprofit that helps poverty-stricken children gain access to education, healthcare, food, protection and emergency shelter.
As a grateful surfer of many of your couches who has now joyfully found a home in London, to me the issue of homelessness has particular resonance. In order to support fantastic projects like the Rambagan Child Protection and Education Program and the Kolkata Red Light Night Watch Program (http://vitalforchildren.org/projects/), I and my team members have each committed to swimming 0.5K, biking 20K, and running 5K all in a row, all on the same day (alright so I'll admit it's only a "mini" triathalon, but when you start in the shape I started in these distances are more than enough!)

We are seeking funds to cover all of the costs discussed above. My personal fundraising goal is $2,000. Funds raised past this goal will go towards additional donations to VITAL. Although I certainly went into this howling in protest, I now grudgingly acknowledge the appeals of physical fitness and am sincerely excited to be making a contribution to this wonderful organisation.
