We can't thank you enough for all of your support!  Thanks to you, we've met our initial goal and with the extra time, it'd be crazy not to make sure that everyone has the chance to get these great reward packages.  Hey, it's not like we have a store you can pop into next month, and even so, the 'special' would be over!

We've added new rewards, some geared especially for folks outside of Ontario.

With extra 'fuel', we can explore other possibilities:   

• Playing further afield than Southern Ontario
• pressing a new run of Blue Pariah - we've been sold out for months, and are shopping for the best price to make them available again!
• It would be great to make available a DVD of the concert.
• A professional music video.  Nothing too fancy or expensive… This hasn't happened since Queer for Cat, at least 10 years ago.  If this became a possibility, we might take a vote as to which song you feel should be the one...
• It's time for a new T-shirt - we have no souvenirs for people to get at shows!
• As always, we're open to your input.  What would you like to see us do?

My last album, Quicksand, was a bit mellower, and that was great. But now I'm ready to really cut loose again in true Big Rude Jake fashion! After all of these years, after 5 studio albums and hundreds of requests from our fans and supporters around the world, we are finally going to make that official *LIVE* album featuring the SEVEN piece Big Rude Jake band and many SPECIAL GUESTS.

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Naturally I have sought to keep costs down on this production.  The Drake is not charging us to use the space, which is a great help. 

• My talented band members are professional musicians.  They have rent to pay and mouths to feed.  Gotta pay 'em.
• The sound engineer has to be paid, and he will need to rent some gear.
• Post Production: editing and mastering.  This, like everything else, has to be done right.
• Packaging - Once designed, it has to be printed.  A company has to be paid to print and press CDs and cd covers that you'd be proud to own.  We're pleased to have a distribution deal in France, but that only works if there are actual cds for them, regardless of whether the world seems to be moving to downloads or not.
• On that note, we naturally hope to distribute everywhere else, too!  This costs money, as do website updates and other promotional costs.
• We need to cover the costs of sending rewards to you, our patrons.
• Quality video of the show.  Our little Elph isn't going to cut it.  This doesn't mean we plan on buying a fancy camera.  As much as we'd like that, it will be smarter to hire someone who already has one.
• There's more, of course.  

On SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20th, 2011, we'll take the stage at The Drake Hotel's Underground in Toronto.

Supported by 100+ of our most enthusiastic fans, we'll record our new album.

It's gonna sizzle with excitement, and we'll get it down so that folks everywhere can relive or experience for the first time the great energy that we've all come to expect from a live BRJ show! The band will rip it up, and people will jump and shout.

Many of you are thinking, "It's about time, Jake!” Sorry for the wait, folks. I promise that this recording will exceed your expectations. The band sounds red hot. Better than ever!

The power of Big Rude Jake comes from the synergy of the band and you. Without you, there is no Big Rude Jake!

We hope that you'll participate in exchange for the valuable rewards and gifts we're offering to our supporters. (We're open to suggestions, too!)

By pre-buying the CD and/or merchandise, or availing yourself of the other cool rewards we're offering, you'll provide us with the funds we need to launch this project professionally, without having to beg the banks or a record company for money, or to go further into debt in some other way.

You will, in a way, be acting as a kind of executive producer, a discerning patron of the Big Rude art.

One more thing; you might be wondering why I decided to finally do this project.

It all came together during a recent tour of France. Most of those shows were simply duets. Me on guitar and Alison on sax.

I thought that we would come across as “mellow and cool,” but that definitely was not the case. The tour turned out to be one big party after another.

One crazy night, with my suit dripping with sweat and the crowd screaming for more, I looked over at Alison and asked her, "What the hell is going on? Why are these people so energized by our little duet?'

That tour changed everything. I realized that Big Rude Jake is destined to bring folks to their feet, to bring joy and excitement to listeners everywhere. We should celebrate this phenomena, and create a recorded document that says, "Jake is here to make you jump up and shout!"

So that's what inspired this “live” recording project. We really hope you can be a part of it. See you on the dance floor, baby!
