Brain Buffer

Brain Buffer's mission is to make keeping tidiness on a hard drive easy and painless. It's designed mostly for people who work with documents, projects (such as autoCAD, Corel) and images thus with time have a large number of files, spread on the drive.

Brain Buffer looks for these files, indexes them and makes working with them easier. User can:

- assign categories/subcategories, keywords (which are also generated automatically for text documents), subject, description -all of that makes filtering easy.

- sort files by their folder name, path, drive, category or extension.

- filter/search for files-this will be something like search engine inside your PC. Files will be searchable by keywords, category, subject or its part, description or its part, content fragment (in case of text documents, including PDF), dates (creation, indexing date, last used etc.), related file, path, extension and more.

- enable version control for files of his choice: when version control is enabled for a file, everytime when that file is edited, its previous version is saved so in case something goes wrong there is always a possibility to restore one of the previous versions. Text files can be compared to see the difference between them, and there is also a description for each file.

Along with the application goes Windows Service that runs in background and watches local file system for changes. When a new file (with specified extension) is created, Brain Buffer indexes it automatically and shows information in its notification area so user can, for example, assign category and write short description right away. When current files are changed or deleted, it is also detected. The goal is to keep things organized.

I'm also implementing Cleanup feature- for people who have a lot of different kinds of files spread all over their hard drive. It will basically search for files of specified extension and move them to chosen/created directories on specified partition. So, 50000 pdf icons from desktop can easily go to C:\PDFs\. That's not all, files can be organized by category, so they can go to C:\PDFs\myCategory, C:\PDFs\Projects etc. -depends from what category a certain file has assigned.

There is also integration with dropbox.com, to enable users to store their sensitive files in the cloud. It will also help in keeping different versions of the same file together across multiple devices.

One more thing, well two maybe. Two examples of usage.

1. My dad inspired me to write this software. He has like million PDF documents all over his drive. At some point of time he had to scan 1 document and email it to the bank. He had to scan each page separately, which created 5 PDF files. Here was his struggle: to find them among many other, and then attach to email.

Brain Buffer would detect these files as they were created, my dad would select them, merge into one PDF, and then, using Actions (see the video above) email them with built in email client. 15 minutes becomes...3?.

2. My friend occasionally does some job for his father in law. His father in law gives him AutoCAD projects to complete. Every time my friend comes to get projects, he has to wait 30 min for him to find the right file.

If he was using Brain Buffer, he could just go to filters, type in name of my friend (assuming that would be the keyword, description or category, etc.) and file would be found right away.

What do I plan to do with the money?

1. Translate Brain Buffer into Spanish, French, Italian and German.

2. Hire professional testing company to test it

3. Ads - adWords

4. Pay for premium submission of software to download.com, tucows.com

1. RocketHub is not an investment or charity. It is an exchange: funds from fans for rewards from me.
2. It's an All & More funding mechanism: if I don't reach my financial goal I get to keep what I raise. But if I do reach my goal, I get access to exciting opportunities.
