I'm an artist from Portland, OR. and I've been invited to go with a team from the US to a private orphanage in Honduras run by World Wide Heart to Heart from June 3 – June 15, 2011 in the village of Tegucigalpita that cares for 80 orphans who have been rescued from a horrendous life of abuse, abandonment and living in the dumps.
I will do HEALING & Personal Destiny Art for each child.

Do you see how an orphan can grow up to change the world?
I'll take individual & collaborative healing art projects for the children to help process through their life challenges and will create a personal destiny art map for each child.
The children will be able to create simple, fun but powerful art in a safe environment to help process through past events that have left a personal identity that is rooted in loss and trauma. Then, they will begin to see their lives, futures and personal destiny in a new way.
Because this is such an important step in their lives, it will be documented with photos and video.
MY WORK
In addition to painting, drawing and creating narrative assemblages, I teach workshops and create art that I call Your Personal Destiny Art Map.
It is my visual interpretation through art of images for a person that are special, individual, simple and profound. Creating a personal art destiny map, I represent what I see and express it either in 2-D or 3-D form. Your personal destiny art map may combine drawings, colors, words and / or symbols or any other unique and individual expression that I believe is important for your life.
As an artist I have faced very daunting physical challenges. I was in a trauma automobile accident over 5 years ago caused by an uninsured driver and still live with pain. In addition, I have had to undergo multiple eye surgeries to save my vision and eyes. Thankfully, these surgeries have been successful. During this painful, prolonged time my prayer was that not only would my natural vision be restored but my spiritual vision would be increased.
Everyone knows what a visionary leader is and if I had to put a label on what I express, it would be that I am a visionary artist. Many "outsider" artists are considered visionary artists who are spiritually sensitive and expressing art that is based on insight.
We live with the manifestation of invisible things brought into the natural realm every day and know that it is a process. We listen to music, watch tv shows and read books. All of these things came from an invisible realm.
A visionary leader is known for the ideas that can change things. Steve Jobs and Nelson Mandela listed above are those type of people.
How does a musician create music? Do they hear notes, chords and rhythms for a new song in their spirit? How does an artist do what they do. It is through inspiration and insight.
Why were you born? What is your purpose? Is this all there is to life or is there something more?
These are questions that you have been asking and I believe that as you give this special experience to the children at the orphanage, you will receive tangible but also more importantly the intangible blessings and answers to these important questions.

Your Personal Destiny Art Map is based on insight and is a special, personal experience based on a tangible expression of The Creator's personal heart of love for you.
I am committed to living my life every day expressing my authentic life & the abundance of love and joy that I have been given.
The funding timeframe is short and crucial for this to happen. I know it can happen because time and space are not what connects people together. What connects people together is the understanding that there is something bigger and I believe that because you are that kind of person you were reading this today. Invitation by Orphanage to come did not come with funds to travel or cover expenses and supplies as they use their funds to support the children in the orphanage. All people who travel to help in any way at the orphanage are considered volunteers and fund their own way.
I need to purchase round trip air fare immediately as the trip is 2 weeks away. The rest of the funds will pay for lodging, meals, supplies for art projects and documentation, shipping, insurance, board, extra bag, in-country travel and materials and exit country fee.
I am ready to go. I've cleared everything else off of my calender between now and then, preparing for everything that needs to happen. I have someone who will be translating what I need to have printed here and I have been brushing up on the bit of Spanish that I know. There are several people going with the team who are bi-lingual and who will translate as needed during the trip.
