I am looking for your support to continue a photography project I began in October, 2010.....
I met Stephanie last year, she’s a heroin addict. There was something about her that made me blurt out the words “Is there something I can do to help you?”. She asked me to help her get into rehab. I said “Yes” and we agreed that I would photograph her as she lived her life and moved towards help.
Thus began a journey that lasted 5 months, through despair and horror, towards hope. Through twists and turns that were unimaginable to us when we began.
This April Stephanie decided to move back to Nova Scotia, to be with her mother and her sister. There she is continuing on her road to recovery. This is an ongoing process. When I last talked with her she told me she was doing well, has not used heroin for over 50 days and is now on a methadone program.
I want to travel to her home to continue photographing (and writing about) Stephanie. This story is not finished.
The money I raise through RocketHub will be used to finance my trip to Stephanie. I will visit with her, we’ll talk, find out what’s new. I will continue to photograph (and to write about) her life.
This new work will be added to the photos and writing already done. By July the whole project will have a new, dedicated home at livethroughthis.ca.
