For those of you that know me and my music you will note that I'm of the folk/pop/country vein. It was a dream of mine to get my last cd made which was a mindfully folk-sie/pop cd. This magically happened after nearly a decade since my last cd was made, after the death of two grandparents, THROUGH the ending of an 11 year relationship and losing my job & BECAUSE OF the utter graciousness of 5 VIP people and a new outlook on life: Live today fully and with love. The songs largely reflected that period and poof - you have folksie-pop-country. But what you may not know is that I have been all the while playing with and writing lots of other kinds of music.
I have also dreamt about making a collection of the "other" more indie sounding music for many many years and haven't had the opportunity, finance or collaborator to work with. I feel I finally have 2 of the 3 components and am ready to jump off the proverbial cliff with it. A great engineer and collaborator came by way of a mutual friend and actually helped me with the acoustic tracks on my last cd, "Wishes". It was a great working relationship and an immediate kinship that I cherished. Also, having finished the last cd, I'm finding myself with time for the next musical endeavor with 4-5 songs ready. What I don't have is the "ching-ca-ching" to make it all happen. I'm grateful I have GREAT people behind me and supporting me with their time, expertise and equipment so I've been able to budget it affordably, but I'm needing help to push forward financially. Said "ca-ching" will head straight to engineer, studio-time, mastering, promotions and small copy press. This will be mostly a digital download release, but I'll have copies at shows and for some fuelers.
The new indie sound I'll be going for is light, fresh and exciting. I've got this idea of FEIST meets POMPLAMOOSE in my head as a my springboard. I get so excited thinking about it and how it will take shape once we can start getting behind the mic. There is NOTHING like hearing a song go from being written in my hallway to getting in the studio with it to having a final product. I feel like a little kid at Christmas or a birthday EVERY time at every turn; I can't really explain it otherwise.
What I hope this process will do is create community between us. Music is such a healing art, both in the listening and the crafting. So I hope to create some inclusiveness with you through this process. I'm offering some fun rewards to share other parts of myself with you and to give back to show my appreciation. I'm really looking forward to the fun I will have doing that.
If I happen to go BEYOND my $1300(which would be sooo amazingly wonderfully AWESOME people!) I plan to donate 50% of that extra to a wonderful organization for animals: BARC. I'm crazy about animals and they are doing a wonderful job at rescuing animals (NO KILL! YAY!) that it would be such a joy to extend the help you're giving me to to helping them out. The rest will go towards still more promotion of the new EP.
I want to let you know that RocketHub is not an investment or charity. It is an exchange: funds from fans for fantasico rewards from me. And it's all or nothing: if I don't reach my financial goal, you get your money back. Very simple. But so important to reach the goal because if not met you get your funds BACK and I go back to my dungeon, tail between my legs and big big pouty face going on. But let's not try to picture that right now.
So I really hope you will jump off this cliff with me, share my project with others and if you have any questions please reach out and ask. Many, many, MANY hugs and thanks in advance!!!
