"Sides of the Track" - A Political Short Film

PROJECT UPDATE:

On behalf of the production team, I'd like to sincerely thank all of you who've contributed so generously to our film, and helped us reach our base goal within the first ten days of posting! Here's an update on the production thus far:

- We've brought an incredibly talented Cinematographer on board who has been completely sold on the vision of our project since day one. It's our pleasure to introduce Steve Pitre to the team. Check out a reel of his past narrative work:

- As a result of our campaign's rapid success, we were featured in a blog interview with the RocketHub team. Check it out below:

- In the past month, we've conducted weekly rehearsals aboard one of the subway cars on display at the NY Transit Museum in order to recreate the environment that we'll be shooting on in five weeks. Check out the updated project photos above!

- We are thrilled to announce that prominent New York News Station "NY1 News" has recently agreed to provide licensing rights that will allow us to cast one of their reporters in our film, donning the channel's logo.

This has been an inspirational journey, and the excitement is only growing with each day. For more updates and information, feel free to check out the film's facebook and twitter pages:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sides of the Track" is a 2011 American short film, and our latest MunkyTown Production. Set in the year 2018, the film seeks to depict a hypothetical scenario in which further incidents of terrorism lead to the mandatory registration and surveillance of Muslim and Arab-Americans throughout New York City. The short covers a conversation between a young 2nd-generation Arab-American girl and a homeless US War Veteran on a subway ride over the Manhattan Bridge, during which both realize the similarities that confront their current circumstances despite their obviously varied backgrounds.

Production Status:

We've been in the pre-production stage since November. So far, we've got an amazingly talented cast assembled, and we're off to a great start with our crew. My good friend Stefanie Walmsley, who is the lead producer on this film, just received an Academy Award for the last short that she produced, titled "God of Love". But in order to continue building our crew and acquire all necessary equipment we need your help!

Funding will cover:

- Acquisition of Cinematographer/Audio Operator for Shoot
- Transportation Expenses for Cast/Crew During Production
- Craft Services for Cast/Crew During Production
- Camera and Sound Equipment Rentals
- Wardrobe and Make-up
- Props and Set Design
- Film Festival Submissions Fees

Any additional funding we receive over our $5,000 goal will go to a robust film festival submission release and additional marketing for the film. We would also love to compensate our crew members for their tireless efforts on this film.
