I have always been a history buff, but my interest in our family tree is due to my grandmother. She began actively researching our past in the early 1980s, but hit a dead end. Endeavoring to get out of the rut, she hired a prestigious London based genealogy firm to fill in the blanks and dig deeper. Unfortunately they hit the same roadblocks, and the project stalled for years.
I picked up the mantle of family historian about five years ago, and by leveraging new tools available online, and visiting offline resources available here in NYC, I have already solved a few family mysteries, and I'm determined to do more!
I have thousands of family photos and historical documents stacked in my apartment. I have scanned many of them, but the originals need to be carefully organized and archived to make sure they don't deteriorate any further. Any proceeds from this project will help me buy the archival supplies I need to make sure these heirlooms will be preserved for generations to come!
