A Little About Me

Julie Okoniewski, program founder of the Summer Youth Advocacy Program, has served as Oakwood Friends School's Director of Community Outreach for the past six years.  Before moving to the Hudson Valley, she worked as the Legislative Director for Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez in Washington, DC -- where she developed the idea for the program -- and in non-profit youth development in New York City.  Julie has over 15 years of community development experience working with low-income youth from New York City and the Hudson Valley.
