A Little About Me

Founders Maxine Kaye and Joanna Steinberg bring combined expertise in international development and microfinance work, international law, finance and technology.  In addition, they have longstanding connections in the textile industry, which has improved their ability to reasonably source materials for recipients and better navigate distribution channels in Western markets.  Support from The Bootstrap Project provides crucial opportunities – such as skills training and access to export markets – to remarkable artisans, primarily women, who ultimately invest in their families and communities.
