A Little About Me

I am a geek!

I’m a mom who volunteers too much and knows every kid on the block.

Drawing on my experience raising children, working with the impaired elderly for nearly 8 years and 5 years as a trained Scout Leader, I created “The Lab” as an outlet for children.

I’ve noticed we spend too much time telling our kids “Don’t touch!” When they really want to touch and play. And why shouldn’t they? Every child is yearning to learn in their own way.

I don’t believe in talking down to kids. I don’t “teach” science at The Lab but rather act as a guide to kids as they explore and discover scientific principles. I believe it’s important to celebrate every child’s interests by allowing them to define their own experience. I urge them to consider science as something that is all around us-not something mysterious that only trained scientists can “do”.

The Lab at Lakewood is not a rigid environment. We make every effort here to nurture the spirit of each child by enabling them to explore science in their own unique way. I am proud of what we do at The Lab, and I pray I have the opportunity to share science with Dallas youth for years to come.
