A Little About Me
My interdisciplinary artistic practice is centered around creating choreographic works for specific locations, film and stage with the body as the primary medium. As a member of this present artistic current which mixes a spectrum of disciplines and influences into the work, my creative process includes devising moving images from various contexts such as a script, musical score, or spatial perimeter, costume or concept. I am interested in exaggerating our human movement vocabulary with all its layers of poetic content. Therefore the usual becomes unusual, the real surreal and the recognizable abstract. My influences include Pina Bausch for her brilliant dance-theatre genre contribution, Trisha Brown for her movement studies and Almodovar for his use of color, character, and location. Eager to invite lifes' intricacies into my work to be dissected, re-arranged, formalized and questioned, I am inspired by the Post-Modern art, voyages to foreign lands and the somatic experience.
