Description

The 90’s redefined Ty's wedding photography style opening the door for a more spontaneous, artistic and creative style.  Many photographers claim to shoot in a photojournalist style but don’t have the real world experience needed to capture true photojournalistic images.

Born in 1971 and raised in Greenville, Ohio, Ty Swartz is known internationally for his photojournalism.  When he was thirteen, Ty began to explore the world around him through a Polaroid camera and subsequently sustained a career as a U.S. Navy photojournalist spanning twenty years.

Attending his first photojournalism course at Bowling Green University while still in High School Ty went on to enlist in the Navy as a photographer, graduating as the class honor graduate at the Naval Schools of Photography in 1992.

After serving seven years as a Navy photographer, in 1999 Ty changed Career paths and attended the Defense Information Schools to become a photojournalist and a video broadcaster.

Ty has had the opportunity to visit more than sixty countries on five continents documenting Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and Airman helping others through humanitarian service.

Over the course of his career in the Navy he has developed a unique style of photojournalism allowing him to capture environmental portraits that evoke an emotional response bringing humanity to a moment in time.

His approach to shooting weddings is to research each location and spend the time needed to develop a personal relationship with the bride and groom to ensure their personality is captured.  And, their wedding is one of a kind and inspires families for generations.

It is very important as a photojournalist to understand the bride and grooms personality in order to photograph in an unobtrusive documentary style that captures details important to the emotional happenings of the day.

Photojournalism is about not just capturing the bride and groom but the rings, flowers, kids, parents, and decorations that make your wedding one of a kind.

Featured on numerous front covers of magazines, newspapers and websites internationally, Ty takes the time to teach and educate anyone interested in photography so they can create the best photograph possible.

Ty is currently a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International and American Society of Media Photographers.

Obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in 2003 he went on to graduate studies in Communication at the University of Oklahoma and Master of Management at Cambridge College.  He is currently completing his MBA in Program Management at Brenau University.
