I would consider myself to be a frustrated designer since I am self taught and have never had any kind of formal training. The reason being that I came from a background which believed you did things which were secure like getting a job working for the government so that you had great benefits and retirement programs. This train of thinking, however, never sat right with me and after trying to do it everybody else's way, I finally broke out on living my life the way I saw fit and started my own CREATIVE business printing t-shirts. You see, while I was going thru school I was the one who always did what he was told to do, did what I thought was expected of me while in my free time I loved doing creative things, like designing things or writing and directing movies with the neighborhood kids I grew up serving as my actors and actresses. The problem was that I thought it was wrong to pursue these passions, since I believed that it was expected of me to find a good job, settle down and put my 30 to 45 years in and retire into a secure retirement. When I started my textile screen printing business, things didn't exactly go smoothly, but I noticed a change in myself, for the first time I not only enjoyed going into work, I actually looked forward to it. I no longer needed an alarm clock to wake up in the morning because I was anxious to get out of bed and into work each day - six days a week. I quickly came to the conclusion that by following my passions in life I would live a life which was much much more rewarding than any paycheck or IRA program any company could throw at me would have been. Now if you ask me if it was easy I'd have to be honest and tell you not at all, however, it was much much more rewarding on many different levels than simply financially or security wise. The question anyone reading this must be asking is, so if I was so happy living this life, running my own screen printing business, why am I here starting this business? Fair question. The short version is I lost everything a few years ago by miscalculating the growth of the company along with the downturn in the economy. The good news is that this has lead me full circle to creating this brand of clothing which I believe is much more than simply clothing, with a vision of it becoming a community of like minded people who believe in, share and live their passions and cravings in life with one another and the world through my lifestyle brand of clothing.
