A Little About Me

Catarina Rivera has taught in both public and charter schools in the Bronx and Harlem. She was a 2007 Teach for America corps member. She is a certified holistic health coach and received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She holds a master’s degree in Dual Language/Bilingual Education from Bank Street College of Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University. Catarina is a contributor to Being Latino Online Magazine and is the COO of United Latino Professionals. She is a developer and facilitator for a nutrition/STEM afterschool program with Sports and Arts in the Schools Foundation (SASF). She was also a 2009 StartingBloc social entrepreneurship fellow. 

Currently, Catarina serves as the Founder/Director of Healthy Kids in the Heights, a non-profit program creating a healthier community. The program operated a successful summer initiative with 6 weeks of free fitness classes for kids. In 2012, the organization will debut a new program, the Healthy Parents Fellowship.
