A Little About Me

I'm a scientist at The Ohio State University in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology. My specialization is in plant systematics and evolution, and I study an interesting group of parasitic plants that occur only in Southern Africa. My lab group works on systematics (relationships amongst groups of plants or within species), conservation genetics, biogeography, phylogeography, and molecular evolution. All those terms are fancy words that describe the work we do in trying to understand the evolutionary history of plants: what their relationships are, why they occur where they do, why they might be rare and endangered, and what role they play in their ecosystems.
